The Room – A Small Office Disguised As A Big And Cozy Apartment
Workspaces have changed a lot over the past few years. They went from being awkwardly partitioned, with specific spaces for specific purposes and void of any true user-friendly features to being these versatile, welcoming and ultimately fun to be in environments which encourage interactions between coworkers and create a casual and friendly atmosphere throughout.
A lot of the big companies are setting the trends but there are also numerous small offices to be inspired by. One is located in Barcelona, Spain and was designed by Nook architects in 2019. It measures 120 square meters across and it actually looks very inviting, with many elements one could borrow when decorating a small apartment.
One of the major aspects of this entire project was versatility. This is a workspace adapted to respond to present day needs. It’s flexible and adaptable, in essence being a multipurpose volume organized into a few volumes. There’s a large open space with adaptable capacity which can be used for occasional workshops as well as a variety of other activities and scenarios. It has direct access to and from the street. There are also two smaller spaces which can be used as offices or meeting rooms, a dining area with a kitchen and open shelves and a service area with two bathrooms and a storage space. On one side there’s a staircase which gives access to the roof.
