A Fantastic Small Place to Work as Well as Relax
This workshop is designed to be tidy, yet relaxed, and modern, yet comfy and familiar-feeling. No one likes a mess, but if a space looks almost TOO clean and organized it can have a sterile feel. To counter this concern space factory, has an assortment of objects that contribute a lived-in vibe without appearing cluttered. Books rest comfortably on shelves, inviting guests to give them a read, and the computer-room has retro-chic workshop feel with its assortment of stimulating objects including an adorable ukulele and a vintage typewriter. The kitchen continues this sensation of, “Organized yet friendly,” with its open shelves that help make it apparent where all the needed plates, jars, and glasses are kept. Everything looks like it belongs where it goes, but still carries a nice relaxed appearance.
A Mixture of Old Materials and New
When space factory doing the initial demolition of the old space to build their new workshop they’re overjoyed to find some solid brick walls, stonework, and so forth. They were able to incorporate these into more modern and sleek metal and glasswork to give the workshop a touch of authentic old class to compliment metal and glass facades. This all then therefore worked beautifully with other added materials such as the marble in the kitchen.
Furniture Designed Specifically For This Space
An old bench turned into a comfy place to sit, a beautiful table–narrow enough for this small space, but delicately rounded to maintain the inviting feel they wanted to maintain for this workshop.
A Soothing Bathroom
The bathroom is a place where we go to feel clean and refreshed. With this in mind space factory took inspiration from the hygienic atmosphere of upscale medical spas, as reflected in silk carpet, comfortable washbasin, and brass mirror. This results in a bathroom that is comforting and cleansing.
Close Attention to Shape
As previously mentioned, modern design can at times come-off as harsh and sharp. To ensure that wasn’t the case with their workshop they brought-in softness with soft shapes in the form of sofa, the art-deco lighting, and other pieces to complement the more rigid and defined shapes in the workshop such as the earlier-discussed bench.
A Fantastic Place to Work as Well as Relax
space factory‘s work upon this workshop resulted in a space perfect for accomplishing work as well as relaxing and socialising. A lovely space that is modern, but still comfy and relaxed.
