The Opus Dubai Revolutionizes The Hotel Industry With Its Amazing Design
Opus is a project developed by Zaha Hadid Architects and currently under construction. Like all the studio’s creations, it’s a very sculptural structure with a unique identity and a memorable and innovative character. Its design pushes the boundaries of architecture as we know it. The Opus building is located in the Burj Khalifa district of Dubai and will house the first ME by Melia hotel in the Middle East along with 12 restaurants, a rooftop bar and over 5000 square meters of office space. It consists of two separate towers which converge at the top and the bottom, forming a central void.
The role of the 8-story void is not just aesthetical but also practical as it allows views of the outdoors from the center of the building. The void has an organic, freeform design which contrasts with the clean and linear outline of the building, emphasizing its sculptural side. The two towers are connected at the bottom by a four-story atrium and at the top by a 3-story bridge. Even in its current stage the building is a unique work of art, like many other Dubai structures.
