DIY Terracotta Plant Pots With Washi Tape
With Holiday upon us, you may be looking for ways to organize your stuff while bringing a little style into your space. If this is the case, then today DIY is for you! Today, I will be showing you how to decorate terracotta pots with some paint and washi tape!
Terracotta pots (in general) are basically a blank canvas and can be found practically everywhere during this time of year. Due to that, I wanted to create a super simple project that incorporated terracotta pots and washi tape. This is because both items are really inexpensive and can be found at the same types of places (like craft stores). The DIY I am showing you today is only 3 steps and could be completed by either adults or children.
With that being said, these terracotta pots are not designed to hold real plants (that have to be watered) since the washi tape can’t get wet. However, these terracotta pots could hold fake plants, art supplies, or loose change. Other than real plants, the sky is the limit when it comes to how you could use these decorative washi tape terracotta pots!
Supplies you’ll need to update Terracotta Plant Pots:
- Terracotta Pot
- Paint
- Foam Brush
- Wide Washi Tape
- Thin Washi Tape
- Scissors (not pictured)
How to update the Terracotta Plant Pots with washi tape:
Step 1: Spray paint
Paint your terracotta pot both inside and out. Then set the whole thing aside to dry.
Step 2: Washi tape and wrapping
Take your wider washi tape and cut a strip that will fit the base of the pot (vertically). Then adhere that piece of tape to the side of the pot and fold the extra tape over the bottom edge. Keep repeating this process until the base of your pot is completely covered.
Step 3: Thinner washi tape
Now take your thinner washi tape and cut a piece that will fit the rim of the pot. Then adhere that piece of tape to the rim of the pot.
Once you are happy with how your terracotta pot looks, you are now ready to display it and use it!
This project was so easy to put together and could be completed in under an hour!
When making this project you may want to consider using different size terracotta pots or using a variety of washi tapes. While making this project, I wanted to create something that looked cohesive. However, you could really have fun mixing different styles of washi tape!
If you made this Terracotta Washi Tape Pot what style of washi tape would you use?
