Old Barn Converted Into A Modern Farmhouse With An Authentic Design
Being able to see potential in what others may consider a ruin beyond any hope is definitely something not many people can do. That’s exactly what makes projects such as this one so special. In 2013 the drastic transformation of an old barn located in Sprundel, the Netherlands started, when the current owners purchased the property. The estate consisted of a stable, a storage shed and a small house in between them. It was studio Van Os Architecten who managed to convert everything into a modern and inviting farmhouse in 2016.
Although the barn was in very bad shape, a lot of the elements were worth preserving. It was the interior brick wall and the beautiful view that first caused the owners to fall in love with this place. They wanted to highlight these elements along with a few other ones such as the original flooring, the wooden trusses and the wooden cladding on the outside walls. They also wanted the original shape of the roof to be retained, even though the roof itself had to be replaced completely. After a lot of work, the transformation was complete and the once derelict barn became a beautiful and inviting house, a dream home.

In an effort to make the most of the gorgeous views visible from the site, the 05 AM Arquitectura team chose to reorient this stunning white house. White kitchens — homeowners love them while some designers have grown tired of them and are ready to move on. That said, they are still wildly popular just about everywhere. There are lots of reasons why white kitchens have endured and will continue to be popular — from their design versatility and marketability to their…
Located in Litchfield County, in Connecticut, this rustic retreat has a lot of character and a ton of charm. It reminds us of French farmhouse-style interiors but obviously with a very distinct flair. It was built where once a dairy and horse farm used to stand and although the original building was too damaged to…
